The project at La Boca has been finished. We are all very excited about this. This completes two of our projects and the next project has been started here in Saltillo - small indoor jobs like painting, etc. We are getting loads of rain due to Alex coming to/being in our area. It is making outside work impossible at this time. This would be why we are currently working on the indoor projects.

Our next project will start on Tuesday of next week. This project requires a a trip to the states to pick up some materials. We will be making that trip this weekend. We would ask for your prayers for safety while traveling especially with the stormy weather will anticipate.

There is a place here that is called The Slide Park. We love this place - had a great time here at this park last year and yesterday we went there again. We brought a little plastic sled from home to make us go faster...crazy idea...but so fun. We had a great, great time!

Nathan going airborne

Treyton

Jada - Nathan would stand at the bottom and catch our kids...they were going so fast there would be no way for them to stop on their own.

In fact, even Nathan couldn't get stopped at the bottom and zoomed right off the end into a nasty pile of mud and junk. Gross!!! He didn't really get hurt - his wrist was a little sore, but he was trying to save his head from getting busted on the concrete wall at the end. After...and only after...we saw that he was okay, we had a great laugh. Poor Nathan. 8-)

Here's the nasty junk that he landed in. 8-( I must admit that I would not have been laughing had this happened to me.

One of the best things about being here in Mexico is Nathan getting to see people that he grew up with at the Orphanage when his family worked here in Mexico. Chelo and her family and Lety and her family all live here in Saltillo. Chelo and Lety helped "raise" (spoil) Nathan from when he was born up until he was about 5 years old. Chelo prepared a delicious meal for us the other night and we had a wonderful time visiting there in her home.
These were undoubtedly the best Flautas de Pollo that I have ever eaten - and this may have been my favorite Mexican meal that I've eaten here in Mexico. Absolutely wonderful.

Chelo and Treyton. Treyton is eating a bollo that Chelo made. She makes these and freezes them and then sells them to the people who knock on her window. She sold a bunch of them this night as lots of people came to the window, and then almost all of us bought one as well. They are good!!
Lupe, Chelo's husband, works afternoons and wasn't able to be with us. We missed him.
It was not quite dark when we left Chelo's house so we decided to go to the Mirador to see the city at dusk. It was beautiful....and windy.

As I mentioned, Alex is pouring a huge amount of rain on us so we are working inside. Here Nathan is painting a circular stairwell. From the bottom step to the ceiling is approximately 20 feet and all Nathan had to use was a 6 foot ladder. Needless to say, we were very careful and it took 3 of us holding the ladder, supporting Nathan, handing freshly dipped paintbrushes...you get the point. It may look like he was doing all the work, but Marc and I were pouring ourselves into this, too. 8-) lol
If you look at the next three pictures, you can see how they are kind of stacked to give you an idea of how high it was. In this first one, he is about 6 steps up in the stairwell, then he is on the top rung (like the very top of the ladder) of the 6 foot ladder and there is still that much room above his head. He was basically unfazed...but you wouldn't have caught me dead up there.

Marc and Melodie - cute picture.
Okay - that was a huge update. Now...I'm headed off to bed soon. Here's to hoping that we hit at least 70 degrees tomorrow. It's pretty chilly here. All of our kiddies were sporting their TUSLAW hoodies. 8-)
It has literally poured rain here all day...and it was only a 40% chance of rain today. Tomorrow is 100% chance...wonder what that will be like if today was only 40% chance. 8-)
We are having a wonderful time here. Happy to be doing what God wants us to do.

  2. How great that you got to visit with Chelo. I'm sure her food was yummy. She is a good cook. Please give her our love. It was so sweet to see our grandson with one of our "young girls" from the orphanage.
The smiles on Nathan's face reflects his joy there.
Lord willing, we will be going to Pa. tomorrow to Sight and Sound. Will check in with you when we return.
    Happy 4th

  5. Ty said he hopes you guys are safe and can come home soon. He said to say hi to Treyton & Jackson, and Emma said to tell Jada hi! They both liked looking at the pictures of the kids zooming down that slide! We all pray for your safety. Take care.
